Who can I help

Young people aged 15 - 17

Navigating the teenage years can feel overwhelming, especially when anxiety gets in the way of school, friendships or daily life. I work with young people experiencing anxiety disorders including intense worries, obsessive thoughts or phobias that feel hard to explain or control.

My approach combines evidence-based techniques with a compassionate understanding of how anxiety affects developing minds. Whether anxiety shows up in school performance, friendships, eating habits or fears about the future, if you are a young person, I can help you to explore and understand what is going on and  learn skills to feel more confident and in control.

Pregnancy and Parenthood

Trying to conceive, being pregnant, or becoming a parent can be emotionally complex — and for those with anxiety disorders or who have experienced trauma at any point in this process, these experiences can be uniquely challenging. I work with people at all stages of the parenting journey: those preparing to start a family, new parents, and those who have been raising children for many years.

You may be experiencing intense anxiety related to pregnancy or birth, distressing intrusive thoughts about your child, or fears around illness — especially if you live with emetophobia and are worried about your child being unwell. These thoughts and feelings can be hard to talk about, but they are not uncommon. Therapy offers a compassionate, non-judgemental space to explore your experiences, let go of unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, reduce anxiety, and help you feel more confident in your role as a parent, whatever stage you are in.

EXPERTISE

I have particular expertise in working with OCD, Emetophobia, and Body Dysmorphic Disorder, providing evidenced based therapy tailored to each individual's needs.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

With many years of experience helping individuals with OCD, I’m committed to providing effective, evidence based treatment and also to training and supervising other therapists to enhance their work with OCD.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of supporting clients with a wide variety of OCD experiences. I provide a non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, even about thoughts or experiences that may feel difficult or sensitive. Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of OCD concerns and understand how important it is to feel safe when sharing what’s on your mind. Many of my clients have shared that my approach brings real, lasting results—helping them regain control and significantly reduce the impact OCD has on their lives, even when previous therapies haven’t brought the progress they were hoping for.

Emetophobia

Emetophobia is an intense fear of vomiting or seeing others vomit, which can lead to significant anxiety and avoidance — such as avoiding certain foods, places, or situations like travel, illness, or pregnancy. This fear can have a real impact on daily life and emotional wellbeing. I have a particular interest in working with people who experience emetophobia  and I understand how deeply it can affect daily life.

Even if you’ve been living with emetophobia for many years, effective treatment is possible—and I’ve seen many clients make meaningful progress. I use evidence-based approaches that are tailored to each individual’s needs. I’ve also been involved in research focused on developing and refining treatments for emetophobia.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder

(BDD)

I have worked with people experiencing Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) for many years. BDD involves a persistent preoccupation with perceived flaws or defects in appearance — often focusing on specific features and engaging in behaviours like mirror checking, avoiding social situations, or seeking constant reassurance.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a highly effective, evidence-based treatment for BDD. In therapy, we’ll explore what triggers your appearance-related distress, examine the meaning you’ve attached to it, and gradually reduce the  behaviours that keep the cycle going. We’ll also build your ability to tolerate uncertainty and discomfort, so your sense of self-worth is no longer tied to how you look. CBT offers practical tools and long-term strategies to help you regain confidence and focus on what truly matters to you.
